Brand Strategist Marc Stoiber approached us because he needed a website that would communicate the experience of working with him to potential clients. He was also launching his first book (elegantly designed by Rethink Canada) and positioning himself as a speaker on branding-related topics.
We decided to take our visual cues from his book Didn’t See It Coming, as it also mirrored his straightforward style and approach. The stripped-down colour palette and bold type allowed us to focus on his words (Marc’s a great writer) and the responsive layout made sure we achieved maximum impact on any screen.
The apparent simplicity of the visual design hides a wealth of functionality. We created a system that allows Marc to easily create landing pages specifically for each speaking engagement, complete with transcripts and follow-up materials, in only a couple of minutes. A custom modular template structure matched to an easy-to-use interface gives him control over each page’s layout without touching code.
As a final touch, we set up a fun and casual photo shoot, capturing Marc’s personality in a series of portraits.
I came to Matt based on a recommendation from someone I trusted, and someone who had nothing but good to say about Matt. From the start, Matt didn’t disappoint. He took my brief, augmented it with is own design sense, and set to work. At every step he kept me in the loop, ensuring I knew exactly what was going on and why.
As we moved into the home stretch, and things were coming together exactly as I’d envisioned, I started scratching my head – was nothing going to go wrong? Well, nothing went wrong. But there were a number of pleasant surprises – including Matt actually photographing me for the site when there was no expectation of that. Now that I’ve been using the site for nearly a year, I know that Matt also isn’t a fly-by-night: every hiccup or tweak I have – no matter how minor – he addresses promptly and professionally. I have in the interim reco’d Matt’s services to many others.
